Lions add LB Spencer Smith, cut LB Curtis Gatewood

The Detroit Lions made roster moves on Sunday, they signed linebacker Spencer Smith and released Curtis Gatewood.

On the same day, Lions rookie tight end Brandon Pettigrew came back to the practice field with enough health for individual drills. He had been out of workouts with a injury on the thigh.

Lions second-round selection rookie safety Louis Delmas still did not practice because a nagging knee injury has again sidelined him for several workouts.

What is more, Detroit coach Jim Schwartz said safety Daniel Bullocks will have his knee examined by Dr. James Andrews. Bullocks missed 2007 season with a knee injury. He managed to start 15 games last season for the Lions, but for this season, things remain uncertain.
