Broncos signed safety Fox to replace rookie McBath

As the Denver Broncos had to place rookie safety Darcel McBath on injured reserve because of broken forearm, they signed back Vernon Fox, who was cut by them during camp but now wears back Broncos jersey to replace McBath.

McBath was a second-round draft pick out of Texas Tech, and had been the most productive of coach Josh McDaniels’ inaugural rookie class aside from tailback Knowshon Moreno. He also filled in at times this season for both starter Renaldo Hill and Brian Dawkins. The rookie broke his arm in the fourth quarter of Sunday’s game against the Indianapolis Colts while playing safety in place of Hill, who left the game with an ankle injury.

As for Fox, who will play in McBath’s position for this Sunday’s game against the Oakland Raiders, Coach McDaniels believes that the eighth-year safety can do what the team expects him to do as he has the brightness to understand his role very well.
